Thirty
years ago, we realized that the future of our university
would rest, not with the state, but with the people it
serves – its alumni, staff,
leaders of commerce and industry and those in professional
practice.
As a result, the Wits Foundation was set up
as a non-profit trust in 1978 to provide a channel through
which donations, gifts and bequests could be accepted
for the benefit of the University and under-privileged students.
The Development and Fundraising Office (DFO) is at the
forefront of the Wits Foundation providing the capacity
required to build increasingly close relationships with
the private and public sectors and foundations. The DFO’s
core function is to provide assistance in proposal-writing,
research and fundraising to university academics and
researchers in all spheres of the University’s
endeavors.
With only one goal in mind – that
of maintaining the standards of academic excellence for
which the University has become famous – the DFO
assists in seeking donations and sponsorships for the
development of research projects, funding for scholarships,
bursaries and supplementation of staff remuneration,
and for infrastructure development, refurbishment and
equipment.
None of this would be possible without the support
of people like you.
During the period January-December
2009, donations to Wits amounted to
R145 470 133.
Whether your contribution is large or small,
please
consider making your investment in the future of our university
today, by choosing one of the many ways
to give.
