Whether you want to invest in a capital project such as the new Wits Art Museum ... in your own faculty or school ... or in a young student passionate about furthering his or her education at Wits, the choice of how your contribution will be used is yours to make.

The Chancellor’s Annual Fund is an expression of alumni support for their Alma Mater and the response has been most encouraging. The Fund supports several different projects in need of private funding – ensuring that gifts are channeled towards the most pressing need at the time.

Capital Projects
Over 100 building projects of various sizes are underway as we strive to build a campus worthy of the needs of 21st Century students.

Thanks to the generous support of both corporate and individual donors, two of the 'Big 5' Capital projects identified in 2008 are nearing completion. The University has raised over R40 million to complete the Chamber of Mines 4th Quadrant Engineering Building Project and the beautifully renovated FNB Commerce building, which houses the School of Accountancy, has already opened for students and staff.

Renovations included the construction of two new lecture theatres, additional tutorial rooms and postgraduate facilities and a new undergraduate computer resource centre. The renovations were made possible by funding from the Department of Higher Education and Training, Wits University, First Rand Foundation, PricewaterhouseCoopers and PPS Insurance.

Funding is still required for the remaining three major building projects:

Cheques and postal orders
Cheques and postal orders are becoming more susceptible to theft and fraud, and are no longer the safest option. If you choose to send a cheque in the mail, we urge you to use registered post as a safeguard. We also recommend that you do not send cash through the post.
