The Board of Governors is responsible for maintaining
accounting records and preparing financial
statements in accordance with
South African Statements of GAAP. The auditors are responsible
for reporting on the fair presentation of the financial statements.
In addition, the Board of Governors
is also responsible for the Foundation's system of internal
financial control. These controls are designed to provide
reasonable assurance as to the reliability
of the financial statements; to safeguard, verify
and maintain accountability of the assets; and to prevent and
detect misstatement and loss.
The financial statements
are prepared on the going-concern basis, since the Board
of Governors has every reason to believe that the Foundation
has adequate resources in place to continue in operation for
the foreseeable future.
